About Patient Discharge Lounge

The Patient Discharge Lounge is a comfortable, dedicated space for patients who are medically ready to leave hospital but are waiting for final discharge arrangements, such as medication or transport.

Facilities

Our discharge lounge accommodates up to 12 patients in comfortable beds and chairs, with TV available throughout. Staff are on hand to provide refreshments including tea, coffee and biscuits. Hot meals and snack boxes are also available.

Medication

Our pharmacy team will prepare all medication you need to take home. This process includes preparation, checking and dispensing, and may take several hours. Our nursing staff will make sure you and your carer understand how and when to take your medication before you leave.

Transport and collection

Relatives and carers will be contacted as soon as you are ready for collection. To avoid unnecessary waiting, please wait until you hear from us before setting off, as final arrangements can sometimes take a few hours to complete.

Our care team

The Patient Discharge Lounge is staffed by experienced nursing and healthcare professionals who can continue to support any care needs while you wait, including medication administration and personal care.
