Work experience

We have many work experience opportunities, including a student volunteering programme.

  • A comprehensive work shadow programme for students age 16 and over, living in the local area
  • The work shadow programme is popular and always oversubscribed; consequently we cannot guarantee a placement
  • For more information please call Chrissie Beard, Voluntary Services Manager or Catherine Taylor Voluntary Services Co-ordinator for a discussion about what opportunities are currently available.

Our student volunteer programme

Our student volunteer scheme starts in the autumn and runs for six months.

The student volunteer scheme enables young people age 16 and over who are considering a health related career to experience the hospital environment, work alongside the team and help patients. Students are placed on a ward and make a commitment to come in one evening a week for six months. The focus is around the patients evening meal and students have an opportunity to work in a ‘hands on way’ with patients.

For more information please call Chrissie Beard, Voluntary Services Manager, or Catherine Taylor, Voluntary Services Co-ordinator, for a discussion about what opportunities are currently available.
