Booking your pregnancy with us
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Please read the following information carefully before completing your referral to our maternity service to avoid disappointment. We are a very busy and popular unit and, unfortunately, are only able to accept referrals within a strict geographical area.
Being accepted for care
To ensure we are able to meet the expected standards for safety in maternity care and provide the best possible experience for women, we are only able to routinely accept women who are registered with GP practices in specific geographical areas. This enables us to provide one-to-one midwifery care for every woman in labour and to ensure we have enough birthing rooms and theatre availability for all of our booked women.
Referrals from Surrey
Surrey & Sussex ICB is divided into East and West Surrey (please see map). We are no longer able to accept women who live in, or are registered with a GP in East Surrey & Sussex ICB (blue area) as you have other maternity services available to you in this area, you should book your maternity care with Epsom & St Helier Hospitals or Surrey & Sussex Hospitals or University Hospitals Sussex. If you have a GP in Upper West Surrey - (purple area) you should book your maternity care with your closest provider, Ashford and St Peters Hospitals.

Referrals from Hampshire and Sussex
Each month, we are also expected to provide care for a limited number of women from Hampshire and Sussex who are from outside the Surrey & Sussex ICB. If we have reached our maximum number of women that our maternity service can safely support, you will be notified by our booking team when you submit your referral that we are unable to accept your referral. You will be advised to contact your local maternity provider.
Important information about your care
We will provide all midwifery antenatal and postnatal care in one of our community hubs that will be assigned to you. We are unable to offer home visits or routine hospital antenatal visits. Please consider the distance you will be required to travel for both your antenatal and postnatal care journey and how far you will have to travel before you book your care with us. Our maternity hubs are marked on the map above and whilst we aim to offer a hub closest to your home address, we are unable to offer a choice of hub for capacity reasons.
Your right to choose
Please be assured that while we support every woman and pregnant persons right to choose where they wish to birth, we also have a right and must apply safe and proportionate limits on who we can accept for care in order to maintain safe standards of maternity care. We are required to prioritise women that live closest to our hospital site for safety reasons.
