Royal Surrey launches refreshed strategy

Royal Surrey True North Goals

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust has launched its new strategy, setting out how it will deliver safe, high-quality, personalised care that is available to the people we serve when they need it most.

The strategy provides a clear direction for the organisation over the next three years, with a focus on delivering safer, faster and more joined-up care, while ensuring services remain sustainable for the future.

It has been shaped through extensive engagement with more than 1,500 staff, patients, carers, members of the public and partner organisations, ensuring it reflects the needs and expectations of the communities the Trust serves.

At the heart of the strategy are five priorities, known as the trust’s True North goals:

These goals set out what excellent care looks like and will guide decision-making and improvement across the organisation.

For patients and the communities, we serve, this means a continued focus on delivering safe, high-quality care, reducing waiting times, and improving access to services.

The strategy sets out how we will make the most effective use of resources to ensure services remain sustainable both now and in the future.

It also highlights a strong commitment to working in partnership to provide more care closer to home.

Chief Executive, Louise Stead, said: “We are proud to introduce our new Trust Strategy for 2026 to 2029, setting out a clear and ambitious direction for how we will continue to deliver outstanding care for our communities today while building a stronger, more sustainable health service for the future.

“This builds on the firm foundations of our previous strategy, which focused on recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic, and reflects the voices of our patients, staff, and partners across Surrey and what matters most to them.

“Royal Surrey has a proud history of compassion, innovation, and partnership. The new strategy builds on our strengths, including our nationally recognised cancer services, our commitment to research and education, and our reputation for high quality clinical care, while also addressing the challenges facing the NHS. It sets out how we will move forward together and build an organisation that is forward looking, inclusive, and unwavering in its pursuit of excellence.”

The Trust’s new strategy is closely aligned with, and reflects, our shared ambition to strengthen collaboration with our group partner, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They have also recently refreshed their strategy, which you can view here.
