One Year of the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Haslemere | News

Thousands of patients have received care at the Urgent Treatment Centre in Haslemere over the past year, as the service marks its first anniversary.

Haslemere Minor Injuries Unit officially moved to an Urgent Treatment Centre in September 2025, with around 2,000 patients seen every month and a record of 116 patients seen in one day alone.

The change was part of a national NHS plan to improve access to urgent care, reduce pressure on our Emergency Department and make sure patients are treated in the right place, first time.

As a UTC, it has meant that staff have been able to treat patients aged one and over, for a wider range of minor injuries and illnesses.

Charlotte Morley, Lead Practitioner, said: “It’s made an absolutely massive difference. Our attendances definitely reflect that.”

The service is open from 8am until 5pm, seven days a week and on average there has been a 25% increase in patient numbers.

It is suitable for adults and children aged over one year and above. They can treat injuries and illnesses that have occurred within the last two weeks such as strains and sprains, suspected broken limbs, minor head injuries, eye problems, abdominal pain, skin infections and rashes and more.

The experienced team works closely with the Emergency Department at Royal Surrey and is made up of 25 staff which consists of 15 nurse and paramedic practitioners, two specialty doctors, a consultant, three registered nurses, four administrators and a lead practitioner.

Charlotte has heaped praise on her team.

“My staff work their socks off,” she said.

“They are a really good team. They have really put themselves out there. They have smashed it.”
