New Bereavement Café launches in September | News

A new Bereavement Café for anyone affected by the loss of a loved one is launching in September, through a partnership between Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

The initiative, led by Royal Surrey Chaplain, Reverend Phil Hughes, recognises that the need for support doesn’t end when a loved one dies and that bringing people together can make a huge difference to their mental health. Phil said:

“This café is for patients’ families and friends, as well as our staff and members of our broader community who may have been affected by bereavement.”

The café will provide an informal, welcoming and safe space where people can connect with others, share their experiences and find support through what can be a very difficult time.

The first Bereavement Café will take place on Thursday 3 September at New Hope Church, Bellfields, Guildford GU1 1JY. It will then be held on the first Thursday of every month at New Hope Church.

There’s no charge, parking is free for two hours, and there’s no need to book - just turn up.
