Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary and Intensive Care Dietetic Team

The Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) and Intensive Care Dietetic Team works in multidisciplinary teams to support complex patients. We use oral nutritional supplements, feeding tubes and parenteral nutrition (feeding directly into the vein) to achieve this.

Within the team there are extended practice roles, with dietitians placing feeding tubes and undertaking a prescribing role.

How can I arrange a referral to the dietitian?

Referrals are accepted from either your consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital or from your GP. If you are being seen by a member of the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary surgical team at the hospital, we will aim to see you at the same time.

Where are clinics held?

Your appointment letter will confirm the location of your appointment.

Most of our appointments are held at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, in Outpatients 3 or 4. Please check in for your appointment in Outpatients 3 or 4.

What should I bring to my appointment?

If you receive a symptom evaluation form please complete and bring this with you. If not, please make a note of everything you have eaten and drunk for three days prior to your appointment.

Please also bring a list of your medications with you.

What do I need to do to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

You will need to call the dietetics department on 01483571122 ex 3228 or email at rsch.dietitians@nhs.net

If I am admitted to hospital will I be able to see the dietitian?

There is a dietetic service to all the wards in the hospital. If you are admitted and need support from the dietitian, your doctor or nurse can refer you to us.
