Rob receives coveted Chief Nursing Officer Silver Award

A surprise celebration took place on our Cardiology Ward, as Vicki Mumford, Interim Chief Nurse, presented Healthcare Assistant Rob Bryant with a coveted Chief Nursing Officer Silver Award.

A surprise celebration took place on our Cardiology Ward, as Vicki Mumford, Chief Nurse, presented Healthcare Assistant Rob Bryant with a coveted Chief Nursing Officer Silver Award.

Rob is only the second Healthcare Assistant at Royal Surrey to receive the award. The first was given to Jill Kyle, Lead Healthcare Support Worker in Practice Development, in 2023.

Vicki praised Rob for his exceptional motivation. She said: “This award recognises your enormous commitment to carrying out improvement work across the trust. We cannot thank you enough and we are so incredibly grateful for all your hard work. It hasn’t gone unnoticed.”

After joining the trust in 2013 as a Healthcare Support Worker, Rob quickly achieved his Care Certificate and was awarded a distinction in the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Worker course.

Working in Cardiology, he volunteered as a Learning Disability and Autism Champion and spearheaded changes to improve inclusivity and accessibility. These changes have included introducing better signage, making patient appointment letters easier to understand, increasing awareness of translation services and implementing easy-read resources for patients with learning disabilities.

Tamsin Enticknap-Green, Interim Professional Director of Nursing and Patient Experience, and Nick Dawson Interim Deputy Director of Nursing and Multidisciplinary Education, joined Vicki in congratulating Rob for his hard work and dedication.

Rob said: “I’m absolutely flabbergasted to receive this award and it was a complete surprise to hear that I’d been put forward for it but I’m feeling really pleased and proud.”

In his nomination for Rob, Nick said that his initiatives had significantly improved patient experience and engagement, reducing anxiety and fostering an inclusive environment.

He added: “Rob’s commitment to patient care, quality improvement, and his dedication to challenging professional growth have enabled him to work at the top of his scope, exemplifying the qualities and values of our trust and the NHS as a whole. His work has enhanced patient experience and both strengthened the team’s performance and overall service delivery within Cardiology.”
