Congratulations to Charlotte Morley, Lead Practitioner for the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), who is leading the transformation of Haslemere Hospital to become a Neighbourhood Hub.
As of the beginning of April, Charlotte took on the role of Clinical Transformation Lead for the project, while continuing in her UTC role.
In line with rolling out neighbourhood health services, as outlined in the NHS 10 Year Plan, the ambitious project will establish a hub for patients with chronic, long-term health conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular, kidney and respiratory diseases.
Charlotte has taken on the role of managing the logistics and resources of the major refurbishment work to repurpose the hospital’s Elizabeth and Godwin inpatient wards, as well as co-ordinating service provision with the clinical teams and specialities involved.
She said: “I recently helped transform our UTC from a Minor Injuries Unit, so I understand the processes involved and I’ll be drawing on the experience of managing that project, which also involved multiple stakeholder engagements.
“I’m kind of the hub of the hub, pulling in all of the spokes to coordinate this project. I know there will be hurdles ahead but having worked on the UTC transition, I feel pragmatic about having the knowledge, skills, oversight and experience to overcome them.”
Working alongside the Community Triumvirate, Charlotte will be liaising closely with the primary care networks, charity and voluntary services, Royal Surrey’s estates, governance, infection control teams, IT, finance, and clinical services and specialties. She’ll be focusing on bringing care closer to home for patients in Haslemere and the surrounding community
She added: “There’s a huge push to establish neighbourhood hubs as part of the 10 Year Plan and I’m enthusiastic about creating our version. Once the initial project is up and running, we'll be able to expand on it and really make the best use of our hospital. Everyone involved in this project is excited that we’re going to be offering great services that are really good for our local community, giving patients what they need and what they want closer to their homes.”
