Paediatric Diabetes

Our paediatric diabetes service provides holistic patient-centred care incorporating the latest advanced technology to support young patients with diabetes and their families. We manage patients with a diagnosis of Type 1, Type 2 or maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY).

Our service includes:

  • Multidisciplinary clinics: Structured, age appropriate education with Diabetes doctors, specialist nurses, dietitians and psychologists working together with patients and their families to support them in managing diabetes.
  • Additional support outside of multidisciplinary clinics provided by dietician and psychologist.
  • Transitional clinics to adult services when of age.
  • School support, training and care plans.
  • Social and educational events for patients and their families.
  • Virtual and face-to-face clinics. 

We offer the following continuous glucose monitors:

  • Libre 2
  • Libre 3
  • Dexcom G6
  • Dexcom G7
  • Medtronic Guardian Sensor 4

We offer pump start pathways with the below supported pumps:

  • Omnipod Dash
  • Medtronic 780G
  • Tandem T-Slim
  • Ypsomed with CamsAPS

Who is eligible for the service?

Children and adolescents up to the age of 19.

How to access the service?

We accept referrals to our outpatient unit from GPs (private and NHS), dentists, opticians and community services and other hospitals.
