Waverley Public - Sara Lillywhite

I am delighted to have been elected as a governor for the Royal Surrey Hospital. I am interested in giving back to the hospital and Community and helping and supporting patients and Waverley residents. I hope to represent patients and ensure that they are represented at board meetings

I live with my two children and husband in Haslemere. I have personal experience of The Royal Surrey Hospital over the past fifteen years with both of my children being born there and the last interactions being my mother being taken into hospital with Covid late last year and receiving some fantastic care in very tough circumstances. I have also been supported by our local hospital in Haslemere.

My professional life, at a technology company, means I have a focus on healthcare, and I am interested to learn more about how the NHS works and how I as a Governor can bring some of my professional skills into play. I have worked for the last 20 years for a large complex organisation, leading teams, working with clients, managing projects and working on problem resolution all of these skills will be valuable. Building teams, both with customers and internally, has been key to my success. I strongly believe in technology as a key to innovation and use agile practices for collaboration and networking. I think many of these skills can help in driving innovation, inclusion and supporting staff.

I am keen to see a reduction of inequality in healthcare, a simplification of processes and pathways with the overall aim for the NHS to be more sustainable into the future.

I look forward to contributing and being an active member.
