Dr Jan Whitby, Lead Governor at Royal Surrey has been appointed Chair of the Lead Governors Association, covering the whole of the UK.

The Lead Governors Association is a national body that allows Lead Governors from NHS Foundation Trusts to discuss ideas on how best to represent the interests of the public at their local hospitals.

Jan’s appointment as Chair will enable her to share experience and guidance with those who may be new to the role of Governor, as well as offering new insights and ideas to the team at the Trust.

Sue Sjuve, Chair of Royal Surrey said:

“Jan is a great asset to the Trust in her capacity as Lead Governor and this new appointment is a much deserved recognition of the hard work and dedication she has shown to the Trust and to the role of Governor.”

Speaking of her new role, Jan commented:

“I am delighted to be taking on a new challenge that can build on my existing role at Royal Surrey.

“In my early days as Lead Governor for the Trust, the Lead Governor Association was very helpful in providing support and guidance on how to get the best out of the role for the benefit of the local population.

“I am pleased that I will now be able to offer that support to others in my role as Chair.”
