Birth and Beyond Complimentary is recommended for all women/ birthing people and their partners registered with Royal Surrey Maternity. This free service covers the essential elements of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period.

When you book a course it will appear in the Upcoming Courses Section of your Profile page. From there you will be able to review course information and access any links. Complimentary Postnatal Recovery & Baby Care Workshop

Summary

This free online pregnancy workshop is taught by one of our Specialist Education Midwives.

We recommend you attend this class with your birth partner from 32 weeks of pregnancy. 

During this two hour workshop our Midwife facilitator will discuss:

  • Responsive Parenting
  • The benefits of skin to skin for you and your baby
  • Vitamin K
  • Keeping your baby clean including, umbilical cord care, nappy changing and bathing
  • Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) and Safer Sleep Guidelines
  • Physical Recovery from pregnancy and birth 
  • Parent Mental Health 

There will also be time to answer your questions about postnatal recovery and mental health during the session.

You do not need to attend this workshop if you are booked on to our Birth and Beyond Complete course as the information will be throughly covered.

What to bring

This workshop provides an overview of postnatal recovery and baby care and as such is approx. 50% of your learning. We recommend that you read through the Education Hub resources on After Birth (postnatal) and Parent Mental Health prior to your selected date to be able to ask the facilitator follow up questions and to get the most out of the session.
