Safeguarding Adults Assurance Statement

Royal Surrey County Foundation Trust collects and reviews evidence against Outcome 7 of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Essential standards of Quality and Safety. This is specifically safeguarding people who use services from abuse. This concerns regulation 11 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activity) Regulations 2009.

Royal Surrey County Foundation Trust is committed in ensuring that all service users feel safe. Throughout the process the service users needs remain paramount. This process is about protecting the adult and prevention of abuse. In particular the Board is assured that:

  • Royal Surrey County Foundation Trust accepts the principles laid down within Surrey multi-agency Adult Protection Policies and procedures and is committed to working in partnership.
  • The Trust expects each member of staff to work in partnership with service users and other agencies who have signed up to the multi-agency policies and procedures.
  • The Trust meets the statutory requirements with regard to criminal record bureau (CRB) checks.
  • Safeguarding training Level 1 is embedded in the Trusts Induction Training Programme for all staff and is part of mandatory training.
  • The Trust is represented on the Surrey Safeguarding Board.
  • The Trust has a designated lead for Safeguarding adults.
  • The Trust has an established Safeguarding Steering Group that reviews and audits performance.
  • The Director for Nursing and Operations is the Board Executive Director for Safeguarding.

On the basis of this the Board of Directors has the necessary assurance that it meets necessary requirements in relation to safeguarding adults.
