We have a large team of volunteers supporting us in nearly forty areas within the hospital. We are very proud of the diversity and scope of the service we offer and we are also very grateful to the loyalty of the 400 volunteers who make the service possible.
Our volunteers provide a very valuable service and we are always on the lookout for more volunteers to join our team. Our volunteers support the work carried out by professional staff and are all dedicated to creating a patient focused service.

Our student volunteer programme
Our student volunteer scheme starts in the autumn and runs for six months.
The student volunteer scheme enables young people age 16 and over who are considering a health related career to experience the hospital environment, work alongside the team and help patients. Students are placed on a ward and make a commitment to come in one evening a week for six months. The focus is around the patients' evening meal and students have an opportunity to work in a ‘hands on way’ with patients.
For more information please call Chrissie Beard, Voluntary Services Manager, or Sarah Allen, Voluntary Services Co-ordinator, for a discussion about what opportunities are currently available.
