HCA/MSW Induction and Care Certificate

Programme Information

Every new HCA/ MSW joining the Royal Surrey County Hospital, whether substantive or onto the Bank system – regardless of experience – will attend this three week innovative induction programme.

As well as being patient focused; the programme has been designed to enhance empathy, knowledge and skills using a range of teaching tools. These include: individual 1-2-1 coaching, group working, simulation using high tech educational mannequins, educational board games, patient and staff stories and having time in our aging empathy suit.

The programme aims to provide participants with the foundations of their role, preparing them to join their clinical teams as a more confident and effective carer.

Infection Control

Patient assessment including;

vital signs and tissue viability

Record Keeping

Admission and Discharge

End of life care

Care of the patient with Dementia

Patient Enablement and Falls Prevention

Risk assessment

Team working and time management

CPD and reflection

Ongoing Training

Following induction,  the Practice Development Team (PDT) will continue to offer ongoing development and training. Examples of this include; helping to facilitate the completion of the ‘Fundamental Care Clusters’ document, Training in the participants clinical setting as well as training set in a classroom environment.
