Patients to receive innovative treatments in new state-of-the-art cancer centre
Cancer patients will benefit from a £20 million investment that will see a new state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment centre built in Surrey.
Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is working with specialist oncology group GenesisCare to provide the new facility, which is expected to open in late 2021.
Eligible NHS patients and staff will have access to state-of-the-art technology as a result of this partnership, including a new Magnetic Resonance Linear Accelerator (MR Linac).
The MR Linac works by delivering highly precise radiation to tumours whilst imaging in real time and it is hoped that it will advance treatments for patients with prostate, pancreatic, lung and liver cancers. Royal Surrey will be the third NHS trust nationally to offer this treatment to NHS patients.
Royal Surrey will continue to deliver world leading treatments and high quality care to NHS cancer patients across the South East of England. In addition to working with NHS patients and staff, GenesisCare will also provide private patient radiotherapy services.
