Congratulations to our Dietetics Department for winning the BAPEN Service Improvement and Innovation Award. During the first wave of the pandemic, many clinical teams had to rapidly alter their working practices and this award promotes and celebrates these service improvements and innovations.

During the peak of the pandemic, the Dietetics Department set up a new service to provide telephone support for patients after their discharge from Royal Surrey, Milford and Haslemere hospitals. You can find out about the service here.

The service, which was set up and managed in collaboration with our G&W CCG dietetic colleagues, was submitted for the award alongside data evidencing the positive impact it had made to patients’ lives.

Tanya Klopper, Head of Dietetics and SaLT, said: “I am very proud of my team and the work they did to set up this service in reaction to the first wave of Covid-19.

“Their hard work deserves this award, and I am glad to see it being recognised!”
