A dynamic team of senior paediatric physiotherapists treating children up to the age of 14 years. We cover both inpatients and outpatients at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The conditions we treat on the ward are;
Post operative surgical conditions
Rehabilitation following trauma and orthopaedic surgery

On the post natal wards we treat babies born with;
Talipes – positional and clubfeet
Hip conditions
Brachial plexus injuries

Our Orthopaedic Practitioners do clinics with Mr Coates – Orthopaedic Consultant. The clinics include hip screening for babies and the management of babies born with developmental dysplasia of the hips (DDH) and a Ponseti clinic for the children born with clubfeet (structural talipes).

In outpatients we treat children with a wide range of paediatric conditions; Juvenile arthritis, Perthes disease, musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation following trauma/fractures. We treat babies with feet and neck problems.

We have very good links with the community therapy teams who treat children with ongoing physiotherapy needs.

Best of health award for service development – The Ponseti Service

Our team

The team consists of a team leader, a senior physiotherapist and 2 Orthopaedic Extended Scope Practitioners.

The inpatient service covers Hascombe Children’s ward, babies on the postnatal ward and a limited service to the special care baby unit.

A senior physiotherapist does a joint paediatric rheumatology clinic once a month with Dr Li and Dr Ryalls.

A senior physiotherapist has regular input with the oncology children.

We are involved in pre assessment clinics e.g. Botox injections for children with cerebral palsy.

The Orthopaedic Practitioners do 2 clinics (Hips and Normal variance) alongside Mr Coates and a Ponseti clinic (treating babies with clubfeet).
