The Foundation Programme at the Royal Surrey County Hospital is very well established. There are Programme Directors for F1 and F2 as well as Medical Education Administrators to answer your queries and help in any way they can. The Foundation Programme Directors meet with each trainee three times a year. In addition each trainee has a named educational and clinical supervisor who offers support and guidance.
We provide 34 F1 and 33 F2 programmes, offering a range of specialties. We have a comprehensive seven day FY1 induction programme prior to commencing employment at the Trust. This includes a fully funded ILS course, Local Competency Assessments, shadowing the current F1 in the post you will start in, meeting the Foundation Programme Director and finally gaining a full handover.
Simulation (https://www.medisimulation.org/) has a high profile in the Trust with a dedicated Simulation Faculty running weekly sessions for Foundation trainees.
Foundation Teaching takes place weekly covering the majority of the curriculum and is Consultant led. This teaching is facilitated by two F2s.
Outside of work there is a vibrant social life. We have an active Doctor’s mess which is run by the F1 Mess Committee. The Mess Committee also organise regular activities including our fabulous Summer Ball.
