The Royal Surrey County Hospital has been given a Gold Award for its work in supporting current and former military personnel in the Employer Recognition Scheme established under the Armed Forces Covenant.
The award recognises the wide-ranging work the Trust has undertaken to allow Veterans, Reservists and Service Leaders to access health services immediately. This is of particular benefit to Reservists who have injured themselves during annual training activities.
The citation for the Royal Surrey notes that the Trust has compiled a list of military spouse employees. The Trust actively engages with these employees to assess their individual circumstances and to accommodate their needs such as helping them to time their leave alongside their partners.
Established in 2014, the Employer Recognition Scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employers who pledge, demonstrate or advocate support for Defence and the Armed Forces Community.
