The Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH) Charity in partnership with Rapid Relief held a BBQ for staff from the hospital to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS on Thursday 5th July.

Over 2,000 members of staff attended the BBQ on site at the RSCH, and volunteers from the Rapid Relief provided all of the food and drink for the event.

Giles Hill, Team Leader, Rapid Relief said: “We are delighted to have been part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the NHS by providing a BBQ for the RSCH staff. It was a great way to give something back to our local NHS service at this special time”.

The RSCH is a leading general hospital and specialist centre for cancer services and treatment, based in Guildford. The RSCH serves a population of 320,000 people for emergency and a general hospital services. St Luke’s Cancer Centre serves 1.3 million people for cancer services across Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire through the St Luke’s Cancer Alliance.

Paula Head, CEO of the RSCH, said: “We would like to thank the RSCH Charity and the Rapid Relief volunteers who made our celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the NHS a success. Staff really enjoyed the event and they are already looking forward to our next anniversary celebrations.”

Celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the NHS took place across the county culminating in a special concert held at G-Live with choirs from the NHS, Surrey County Council and the local community taking part.
