Volunteering

A large team of volunteers supports the Royal Surrey helping in nearly forty areas within the hospital.  We are very proud of the diversity and scope of the service we offer and we are also very grateful to the loyalty of the 600 volunteers who make the service possible.

Our volunteers provide a very valuable service and we are always on the look out for more.  Our volunteers augment the work carried out by professional staff and are all dedicated to creating a patient focused service.

How do volunteers make a difference?

  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the Hospital
  • Accompanying patients and visitors to the clinics and wards
  • Delivering flowers
  • Serving refreshments in our St. Luke's pantry
  • Helping with our trolley round to wards
  • Being part of the Library service
  • Assisting patients and staff on the wards
  • Broadcasting with our Hospital radio station - Radio Lion
  • Enabling vulnerable children to reach their full potential in our Opportunity Playgroup
  • Supporting patients and carers in The Fountain Centre (our cancer information drop in centre)
  • Assisting with fundraising events
  • Visiting the patients as part of the Chaplaincy team
  • Giving clerical support
  • Clinics and Outpatients
