Swine Flu Up-date

There are more than 3000 confirmed cases of swine flu in the UK.

If anyone is concerned that they may have swine flu, we would advise that they stay at home to limit contact with others and seek medical advice from a local health professional, your doctor / GP or contact NHS Direct. Please follow this advice rather than coming to A&E.

Advice on swine flu to patients and visitors to the Royal Surrey County Hospital

If you have flu-like symptoms, or if you are concerned you have been in contact with someone who has swine flu, please do not visit your family and friends at the hospital.   Please stay at home and limit contact with other people.

It is always good practice to follow respiratory and hand hygiene such as:

  • Maintain good basic hygiene, for example washing hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread bacteria from hands to face or to other people.
  • Covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible
  • Disposing of tissues promptly and carefully.
  • Making sure your children follow this advice.
