Security

I am concluding some research into the security interests of some
trusts within the Surrey, Sussex & Hampshire areas.

Please where possible refer answers to your main Guildford- Royal
Surrey Campus.

Can you please confirm the following where possible:
1 The average amount of security team members on duty at any time – The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is withholding this information under Section 38 (Health and Safety) of the Freedom of Information Act. The Trust accepts that there is a public interest in how the public purse is spent. However, there is also a need to withhold any information that would compromise the safety of the Trust security team carrying out their role. Moreover, the disclosure of detailed information about the Trust’s security personnel could encourage crime and could also put patients and staff at serious risk. In assessing the public interest, the Trust takes the view that Section 38 pertains to this request and that the public interest is best served by withholding the information.

2 Whether these members are employed directly by the trust and/or a private organisation including the details of that privatecontractor – Private Organisation – Medirest (Compass)

3 Whether these team members are licensed by definition by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and if so in which sector (eg Security Guarding or Door Supervision) SIA Licensed – (Security Guarding)

4 How many recorded incidents of the following type did your security team deal with during the year 1st September 2014 – 1stSeptember 2015:
a) Total Incidents – 294 (all security incidents)

c) Assault against NHS Staff -The Trust reported 56 assaults in the year 14/15 on NHS Staff

e) Patient lost or absconded from Trust or believed to have done so (by patient I mean anyone who was admitted formally and/or registered within the 4hour target window within the ED) This scenario is not collated as a ‘security incident’ by the Trust.

5 Please also confirm the latest annual security cost or budget for the 2014-2015 year (if possible just for the Guildford Campus) £192,581

4 6 Please confirm if your security teams have access to, use or are supplied with the following items of equipment: – The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is withholding this information under Section 38 (Health and Safety) of the Freedom of Information Act.
