Royal Surrey staff celebrate Foundation Trust status!

Monitor, the independent regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts, has today announced that the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust will be authorised as an NHS Foundation Trust on 1st December 2009.

Chief Executive Nick Moberly said:

"We are delighted to have been licensed as an NHS Foundation Trust.  As a Trust we have spent the last 18 months going through the application process and it is truly fantastic that all of our hard work has now paid off.

"All of the staff at the Royal Surrey have played a part in this success as none of this would have been possible without everyone working together to consistently deliver excellent, high quality care and services for our patients day in, day out.

"As a Foundation Trust we will be able to make quicker decisions about how we want to develop new services and, importantly, retain financial surpluses each year, which we can reinvest back into patient care and new developments.

Acting Chair Melloney Poole added:

"We would also like to thank all of our patients and the communities we serve for supporting the Royal Surrey over the last few years and for signing up as Foundation Trust members.

"We are now all looking forward to working closely with our members and our recently elected Council of Governors to ensure that the new Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust goes from strength to strength."
