The IV Additives course is a two day course that trains nurses to safely prepare, check, calculate and perform the administration of IV medications and fluids. Cannulation training is also included.

Basic Ward Management
Basic Ward Management is a one day course designed to develop a participants problem solving skills in order that they can safely and effectively manage a group of patients within a ward environment.
This course runs four times a year.

This is a short 1 1/2 hour course that ensures candidates are fully able to work within national guidelines (i.e. NMC Standards) as well as local employer guidelines and policies in relation to documentation and record keeping. Elements covered include; accountability, law and best practice and practical workshop for nursing documentation.

This course is designed to ensure that participants accurately retain their knowledge and skills as well as receive updates on current evidence -based best practice.
It is a RSCH statutory and mandatory requirement that all IV trained staff receive an IV Update every two years.
The course lasts 2 1/2 hours and is run monthly.

This is a three day course which is currently available to RSCH Trust nursing staff who are on the Preceptorship programme.
Day one is a clinical skills day, day two focuses on managing a small group of patients and day three covers the assessment and management of a deteriorating patient. All candidates have the opportunity to practice an A to E assessment under simulated scenario based conditions.

Common Arrhythmias and 12- Lead ECG for Nurses
This course covers basic cardiac anatomy and physiology, 12 lead ECG placement as well as common arrhythmia recognition.

This study day is open to new students who have joined the trust. It has been devised to prepare students for working in placements across the trust covering a variety of subjects and skills.
This course has been devised to deliver extended training for students Focusing on Patient Experience and Professional Behaviour.
This course has been devised to deliver extended training for students entering their final year of study and focuses on preparing students for gaining employment in nursing.
These bespoke courses run through-out the year and enable students to brush up on existing skills, experience new learning and pre-pare for qualification and employment.
These 2 hour sessions are run through-out the year and have been devised for existing mentors. These updates are delivered across the trust by several practice development specialists.

This course is run to extend the skills of existing mentors to enable them to prepare, evaluate and sign-off student nurses in preparation for their qualification
