We are the Guildford locality provider for physiotherapy services, receiving referrals via a choose and book system, consultants and GPs. We aim to assess patients within 5 weeks for routine cases and within one week for those that are urgent.
Our Musculoskeletal outpatients’ team treats:
Orthopaedic patients including post-operative treatment
The team also provides cover for the fracture clinic every weekday morning, for those patients who are referred from A&E / fracture clinic and require advice following removal of plaster cast or injury.
Our team comprises of junior and senior state registered, chartered physiotherapists, as well as extended scope practioners who specialise in specific areas of physiotherapy including: spinal, shoulders, knees and hands.
Focus on treating patients referred with neck, back or upper limb conditions. We also provide two group classes aiming at continuing rehabilitation and providing education to patients:
The back class
Back Class runs from 3pm to 4.15pm on Mondays
Hand Class:
Runs from 11am-12pm on Fridays
Patients who are referred for lower limb conditions are treated in our fully equipped gym.
For intermediate and advanced lower limb rehabilitation we provide the following gym classes:
Tuesdays 4-5pm (Advanced)
This is a 6 week advanced lower limb rehabilitation program, run by a senior physiotherapist for patients who either want to return to sport or a high level of physical activity post injury or surgery. An individualised circuit programme will be devised by your referring physiotherapist, incorporating strength and cardiovascular training, balance and core stability exercises. This is closely reviewed and progressed each week, working towards your individual rehabilitation goals.
Wednesdays 8:30-9:30am and Thursdays 4-5pm (early rehabilitaion)
A six week program, consisting of exercises aimed at improving strength, co-ordination, movement of lower limbs. As with the advanced program and individualised program will be designed with your physiotherapist. The initial assessment for the class will be up to 40 minutes.
Within both the department and gym we have close links to outside institutions such as local leisure centres, with whom we run exercise referral schemes for our patients that would benefit from continued or those that wish to continue with exercise.
