Palliative Care in Focus at Royal Surrey Members’ Event

The Royal Surrey is hosting an evening about Palliative Care on Wednesday 16^th May at 7pm in the hospital’s Education Centre.  Royal Surrey Palliative Care Consultant Dr Andrew Davies will be giving a presentation along with members of the Palliative Care team. 

Dr Davies will explain what Palliative Care entails, and specifically the role of the team within the Royal Surrey. He will discuss the available clinical services, and highlight recent successes in terms of education and research. 

Dr Andrew Davies explains;  

“Palliative care is a specialty that is often misunderstood by patients, carers and other healthcare professionals. It is a very diverse specialty, and the team at the Royal Surrey are championing new methods of working within acute hospitals.” 

The Royal Surrey Palliative Care team recently won the Multidisciplinary Teamwork Award at the International Journal of Palliative Nursing annual awards ceremony in London.  This is a hugely prestigious award in the field of palliative care, and the Royal Surrey team were shortlisted with teams from around the world.  The evening will be a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the work of this award winning team and the care they provide their patients at the Royal Surrey.

“We have a brilliant palliative care team at the Royal Surrey.  This evening will be a great chance to find out about the work we do at the moment and our plans for the service in the upcoming months and years.”
