The Royal Surrey County Hospital has seen its Foundation Trust membership numbers soar to more than 9,000 in the final weeks of its public consultation.
In recent weeks the responses have rocketed, pushing our public and patient membership numbers over the 6,500 mark. The three month public consultation stage of the hospital's Foundation Trust application draws to an end on the 31st January with a Sign Up event at the Guildhall, High Street, Guildford between 11am and 2pm.
Royal Surrey Chief Executive Nick Moberly said:
"We have had an astonishing response from our patients, with people from as far and wide as Lincolnshire, Jersey, Oxfordshire, Cornwall, Wales and Germany signing up to become members. "
"We need to continue to sign up patients and people from the local community to become members. We are extremely grateful to those who have already joined us and we really want everyone who cares about the future of the Royal Surrey, but hasn't yet signed up to become a member, to join us too."
The rise in members is the result of an extremely active three month public consultation. 18 public meetings have been held at a variety of locations throughout Surrey, West Sussex and East Hampshire. Alongside these public meetings we have hosted two major events including a hugely successful Question Time at Guildford College at the beginning of the year. On top of this our staff have been out and about speaking to people at 13 other external events including various parish council and stakeholder meetings, with a further seven in the pipeline for the next few months.
