Patients treated at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are benefitting from some of the shortest waiting times in the county.
The latest figures show that across all specialties, the Royal Surrey is the only hospital in Surrey to have achieved the target of 90% of admitted patients across all specialties being treated within 18 weeks of GP referral. 100% of urology, ear, nose and throat, gastroenterology, cardiology, and rheumatology admitted patients were treated within 18 weeks.
The Royal Surrey was also the only hospital in the county to have no patients waiting more than 11 weeks for an outpatient appointment.
Medical Director Dr Christopher Tibbs said:
“Staff from the across the Trust have mounted a huge effort over the last few years to bring down waiting times for all of our patients, despite the fact we are busier than ever.
“We have seen around 15% more patients over the last year and have still made huge improvements to waiting times for our patients. There are still a very small number of patients who do wait longer but this can be for a number of reasons, including the patient opting to delay treatment, awaiting diagnostic tests to be performed and postponement of procedures due to unforeseen events.
“We are very proud of this achievement and working very hard to ensure that we maintain low waiting times for our inpatients and outpatients.
