Royal Surrey County Hospital is hosting a free public health event for carers.
Caring for Carers will take place at Surrey Sports Park on January 21 between 14.00 and 16.00.
Deputy Director of Nursing Jo Embleton said: “Royal Surrey County Hospital is committed to improving the experience and support carers receive.
“We recognise that carers are the unsung heroes of the health service and we want to make sure that they know about all the service and support that is available locally.
“Currently there are around 20,000 carers in the county that we are aware of, but there are many others who simply consider their valuable responsibilities just part of being a husband, wife, partner, mother, son, daughter, or friend.
“Reaching these people is a challenge and we hope that you can encourage your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, who maybe looking after a loved one, to attend and find out about the help that is available.
“This free event will bring together a number of different agencies, who will cover everything from how to get financial support to the importance of carers not forgetting to look after themselves.
“It will also feature an informative presentation, which will start at 14.30, and give carers the opportunity to put any questions they may have to the experts.
“Everyone is welcome to join us.”
