FOI 3011 Server Information

1. For each of the types of server ICT contracts above can you please send me the following data types:

 

  • Server Hardware Maintenance- contracts relating to the support and maintenance of the organisation’s physical servers.
  • Virtualisation Licensing (VMware, Solaris, Unix, Linux, Windows Server)-
  • Virtualisation Maintenance/Support (VMware, Solaris, Unix, Linux, Windows Server)
  • Storage Area Network Maintenance/Support (EMC, NetApp etc) 
  • Contract Title: Please provide me with the contract title.

Not applicable. Too many OEM warranties & subscriptions that do not have specific titles and information not held centrally.

2. Contract Type: Please can you provide me with one or more contract types the contract relate to: Server Hardware, Virtualisation, SAN (Storage Area Network)

The Trust’s servers hardware are covered by the Original Manufactures at the point of hardware purchase in the form of 5 year warranty. OS Software by vendors such as Microsoft, VMware, Citrix are supported directly with the vendors in the form of 5 year software subscriptions purchased through the hardware vendor at the point of hardware purchase.

3. Existing/Current Supplier: Please provide me with the supplier name for each contract.

Hardware warranty: Dell, HP, EMC, Sinology

Software warranty: VMWare, Citrix, Microsoft

4. Hardware Brand:  Please state the hardware brand of the servers related to the contract with supplier e.g. Hardware Maintenance could be Dell, IBM etc

Not applicable as warranty and subscriptions are purchased at the point of hardware purchase.

 Not applicable as hardware is refreshed every 5 years in line with purchasing policy.

8. Contract Expiry Date: Please can you provide me with the date of when the contract expires.

Not applicable as warranty and subscriptions are purchased at the point of hardware purchase resulting in multiple contract end dates.

9. Contract Review Date: (An approximate date of when the organisation is planning to review this particular contract.)

10. Purchase of Servers: Could you please provide me with the month and year in which most/bulk of servers where purchased.

There is no set time of year to purchase servers.

11. Number of Physical Server: Please can you provide me with the number of physical servers.

13. Brief Contract Description: I require a brief description of the service provided under this contract. Please don’t just put maintenance I need at least a sentence.

We do not have a third party managed service contract in place to maintain our servers and SAN’S.  Day to day maintenance is managed but the Trusts’ internal IT Department consisting NHS employees. Original manufacturer hardware and software support is utilised by IT Department Technicians where necessary.
