Endoscopy Service

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would be grateful if you can supply the following data for the period October 2014 – October 2015 (inclusive).

1. Current waiting list time(s) for the below Endoscopy procedures in line with Joint Advisory Group (JAG) guidelines?  All urgent/TWR (Two Week Referral) < 2 weeks; in turn waits as shown for each procedure as at October 2015; Waits fully JAG compliant until June 2015

• OGD – Gastroscopy ~ 8 weeks
• Flexible Sigmoidoscopy ~ 8 weeks
• Colonoscopy ~ 8 weeks
• EUS < 6 weeks
• ERCP < 6 weeks

2. Do you currently require assistance with a locum Consultant to help clear your current backlog / waiting list? No

3. Number of Endoscopy sessions run weekly, and how many theatres available?
39 sessions GI endoscopy; 4 rooms

4. Do you operate over 5 days (Mon-Fri) or do you offer a full 7 day service? 5 days and usually 2 rooms on a Saturday

5. The rate per session (or per hour) for Endoscopy waiting list initiative work that the Trust has paid to Consultant? This information is being withheld on the basis of the exemption contained within section 43(2) of the Freedom of Information Act (Commercial Interests). The Trust accepts that there is a public interest in how public money is spent; however there is also a need to withhold information that would prejudice the commercial interests of the Trust and/or third parties. In assessing the public interest, the Trust takes the view that this would be the case in this instance.

6. Please could you also tell me the sessional rate (or per hour) for Endoscopy waiting list initiative work paid to Locum Consultants between the same time period? This information is being withheld on the basis of the exemption contained within section 43(2) of the Freedom of Information Act (Commercial Interests). The Trust accepts that there is a public interest in how public money is spent; however there is also a need to withhold information that would prejudice the commercial interests of the Trust and/or third parties. In assessing the public interest, the Trust takes the view that this would be the case in this instance.

7. Please could you also tell me whether the hospital has ever used agencies to supply Endoscopy Consultants? Yes If so, which agencies have been used? This information is being withheld on the basis of the exemption contained within section 43(2) of the Freedom of Information Act (Commercial Interests). The Trust accepts that there is a public interest in how public money is spent; however there is also a need to withhold information that would prejudice the commercial interests of the Trust and/or third parties. In assessing the public interest, the Trust takes the view that this would be the case in this instance.
