Please note that the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is unable to supply all the information that is sought in this FOI request.

To obtain an accurate treatment profile of patients in A&E would require scrutiny of individual healthcare records and, therefore, the cost of compliance would exceed the appropriate limit under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act.

Therefore, for the question How many cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have been treated in A&E’ the Trust can only include the inpatient episodes that were coded as carbon monoxide poisoning and cannot provide figures on patients treated in A&E.

Also, for the question ‘How many cases have attended A&E with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning’ the Trust can only supply the patients that have a complaint of ‘carbon monoxide poisoning’. There may be instances where the complaint has been recorded as something other than carbon monoxide poisoning and as the treatment details are not recorded on the Patient Administration System as stated above, these patients are not included in the figures.
