DSC_0987The Royal Surrey County Hospital has officially opened its refurbished reception area and new Deli Marché cafe in St Luke’s Cancer Centre.

The rejuvenated space offers a calm and relaxing environment for patients waiting for their appointments and has been lovingly decorated with pictures of Guildford.

The café, which is operating in partnership with Medirest, offers a wide range of light meals and snacks as well as a selection of Costa drinks.

Refreshments on offer include soup, freshly baked pastries, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and grab and go items. There will also be cakes of the day and afternoon tea.

DSC_1004Alf Turner, Director of Organisational Transformation and Estates comments: “The refurbishment of the St Luke’s waiting area is part of our ongoing investment with our facilities provider in improving the services and facilities for our patients which builds on the work we have done with a new Costa and M&S Food store at our main entrance.

“In partnership with Medirest, we will be able to offer a much more welcoming environment and a great range of refreshments. We’ve been sure to carry out all the work at night so that the impact to patients still using the area was kept to a minimum.

“I would like to take this opportunity though to thank the wonderful volunteers who have provided the ‘Pantry Café’ service over the years. This has been such a valued service by so many of our patients and staff.”
