I live in Guildford and have 2 married daughters and 3 grandchildren.
I worked at Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust from 1984 to 2013. Here I was a medical secretary for consultant pathologists, radiologists, orthopaedic surgeons and oesophago-gastric surgeons. I also ran a local private orthopaedic practice for 5 years and have experience in Public Relations/Communications in the corporate, public and charity sectors. I gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management from Kingston Business School in 2004.
Currently, in addition to being a Royal Surrey governor, I am a member of a GP practice’s patients’ participation group and am a Council member of the River Thames society.
I work on the crew for the River Thames Boat Project which takes groups of seniors and people with disabilities onto the river and provides ‘School on the River’ educational days for years 4 and 5 school children.
I enjoy singing and am part of the Vivace Chorus and have been a church warden for Guildford since 2014.
