Visiting hours and other helpful information

Do not visit or attend wards/clinics or departments if you or your family have experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last 48 hours.

Visiting hours and other helpful information

We invite you to visit between the hours of 2pm - 4pm, and 6pm - 8pm.

We do ask for visitors’ cooperation as our doctors and nurses will need to continue to provide care and treatment and it may be necessary for visitors to temporarily step out while this is done.  We also ask all visitors to please adhere to the following

  • No more than two visitors visit a patient at a time
  • Please do not bring or send flowers to patients
  • Please do not bring children under 10 years without prior discussion with the nurse in charge. It is not recommended to bring babies under one year old into the hospital environment
  • Please ensure children are supervised at all times
  • Please adhere to any requests regarding hand cleaning and side room notices
  • For exceptions to these rules, please discuss with the Nurse in charge of the ward
  • Some of our wards operate protected mealtimes when we ask you to please refrain from visiting (unless your relative could benefit from assistance in eating, in which case we would welcome and value your help with this).

Paediatrics, Special Care Baby Unit and Maternity are excluded from this policy, please check visiting arrangements with those departments.

More details of our visiting policy can be found in our Visitors' Charter.

  • 'Working Together for Our Patients' - The Visitors Charter

We recognise that visiting a person in hospital plays a vital part in aiding their treatment recovery and overall care. To enable this to happen at the Royal Surrey County Hospital the Matrons have developed this Visitors' Charter to support the National Matrons Charter, this is supported by the Trust Executive Team. The aim of the Charter is to ensure that visitors are aware of what they can expect of us and what is expected of them, whilst visiting in the hospital.
