Travelling to the Royal Surrey

A number of buses go to the hospital and we are situated just off the A3 and the Royal Surrey is clearly signposted from all directions of travel.  The following map provides much more detailed information.  (Please click on the map for larger view).

Arriving by car

To make parking a easy as possible, please click here for a map of our car parks and hospital buildings.

Parking can be difficult at some times of the day so it is worth leaving some extra time to ensure that you are not late for your appointment.

There is pay and display car parking available and like most hospitals, the RSCH needs to make a charge for car parking.  There is a free 20 minutes pickup and drop off point at the front of the hospital and parking provisions for disabled are available next to all entrances.

If patients and visitors need to add more time to their tickets after arriving at the hospital, top up machines are available inside the building.  Any enquiries or queries about parking should be directed to the CP Plus Parking office, which is located to the left of the doors into main reception or by calling 01483 571122 ext 6962.

Arriving by bicycle or motorcycle

There are covered stands and secure storage for bicycles and motorcycles at the front and rear of the hospital.

Cycling to the Royal Surrey

From the www.surreycc.gov.uk/ website there is a section on Cycle Guides and Surrey Cycle Guide No. 4 provides a map showing recommended cycling routes and locations of cycling facilities in Ash, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Puttenham, Tongham and Worplesdon.

Arriving by public transport

Access by Rail

There  is a frequent train service from many of the surrounding areas to Guildford train station. The station is also on the main line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth, with Reading and Dorking connections. A fast, frequent service is available with trains running approximately every 20 minutes. For further information contact the 24 hour Passenger Information line on 08457 48 49 50.

From the train station it is possible to travel to the hospital either by bus or taxi.

Access by Bus

There is a regular bus service to the hospital directly from the Guildford Friary Bus Station and the rear entrance of Guildford Railway station along Guildford Park Road.

A return to Guildford picks up directly outside the hospital Main Entrance (Bus stop HT1).

Taxis

The taxi ranks in Guildford are situated at the railway station, adjacent to the Friary shopping centre and at the top of the High Street.  Alternatively, you may wish to contact local firms.

There is a freephone link from the hospital to City Cabs. The telephones for this service are situated adjacent to the main entrance reception desk, in A&E reception and in the Radiotherapy reception of St Luke's Cancer Centre.

If you are on income support or low income

You may qualify for reimbursement of some or all of the costs of using public transport, including the expenses of any escort if the hospital has recommended that you have one.

These costs can be claimed as a cash payment at the hospital offices and you will need to complete a simple form and produce evidence of eligibility.  Details of eligibility can be found in the booklet HV11 available from the outpatient clinic reception or copies may be obtained from your local social security office.

Wheelchairs

These are available for use within the hospital or clinics and are available from the main reception on your arrival and should be returned to the main reception after use.
