The Fountain Centre is a charity for cancer patients, their families and carers located in the St Luke’s cancer unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford.
When a patient is diagnosed with cancer they often find themselves in a state of shock with their lives spiraling out of control, not knowing where to turn. The Fountain Centre is there for patients and their families from the initial cancer diagnosis until treatment finishes and beyond.
We provide information, counselling and complementary therapies, in a calming and relaxed atmosphere, allowing patients to make informed choices and regain control of their future. We also have a wig bank, a lending library, and can provide information about local support groups, welfare benefits and a host of specialist cancer charities.
Our main centre is next to the chemotherapy wards and by Easter 2012 we will have a second suite of facilities on Level A, next to the radiotherapy department. Our reception and lounge are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, and complementary therapy appointments can be booked in advance either in person or over the phone.
One in 3 of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives, and it is not just the individual who needs support, but relatives and friends as well. Every year the Fountain Centre helps over 2,500 newly diagnosed cancer patients and their loved ones to live with cancer.
There is more information about the services we can offer and how you can help our work on our website, http://www.fountaincentre.org/ or you can watch our film on YouTube.
