Sue Lewis, Director of Nursing and Operations and Deputy Chief Executive said: “I am very pleased that the Royal Surrey County Hospital has not breached the Hygiene Code and this is down to the hard work of all staff to improve our infection control procedures. “Tackling infection and patient safety is our top priority, which is why we have already taken action in the areas that the Healthcare Commission has set out recommendations. “Infection control is now discussed on a regular basis at team meetings across the trust and our Chief Executive receives monthly reports. We have also recently restructured the management of the hospital, which will help to further improve compliance with the code and monitoring of our performance. Training is now compulsory for all staff and we have invested £271,000 of Government money in new equipment and deep cleaning the hospital.” Ends.
