Patients are generally seen on the wards, although they can be seen in other settings within the hospital. Outpatients can also be reviewed in the weekly specialist palliative care clinic. The team does not make home visits, which are usually done by specialist palliative care teams in the community.
The Liverpool Care Pathway - one programme for delivering palliative care to people with a terminal illness - has been the subject of media and public discussion recently. For more about how and when we may implement the programme, and what it really means in practice, please click here.

Second Guildford Advanced Pain & Symptom Management Courses
The aim of this two day advanced course is to provide delegates with an up-to-date, evidence-based review of the management of pain and other common symptoms. The topics have been chosen because of their impact on the patients’ quality of life, and the lecturers chosen because of their knowledge of the subject matter. On each day there is a session entitled “What else is new?”, which will highlight those developments not included elsewhere within the study day programme. The lectures will be supplemented with relevant reading materials, including slide presentations, reprints of articles, and reference / further reading lists.

* The number of places on the study day is strictly limited, and delegates are advised to book early.
