In line with the ‘Maternity Matters' report (2007), we aim to promote pregnancy and childbirth as normal, and are concerned with improving access, increasing continuity of midwifery care and support, and enabling all women and their families to make informed choices about what care they want, delivered where they want and how they want.

Fathers are an important part of a family. We welcome fathers' involvement in your pregnancy, birth and beyond. Partners are welcome to attend your appointments, scans and classes if you wish.

If you are choosing to have your baby in hospital, our aim is to help families achieve satisfactory preparation and a positive birthing experience suited to your particular needs. Our team of midwives and maternity support workers can call upon obstetricians, anaesthetists, paediatricians and other clinicians if the need arises.

Whether you live in the Guildford area or ‘out of area' you are able to book to have your baby at the Royal Surrey County Hospital with care provided by the Maternity Services team of midwives and doctors.
You can self-book (self-refer) at the Royal Surrey County Hospital by contacting the midwife via your GP surgery, if you live in the Guilford area, or via the Antenatal Clinic at RSCH. You may choose to self-refer using our secure booking referral form (see below). Please notify your GP of your intention if you have self-referred.
If you do see your GP to confirm your pregnancy he/she can refer you directly to the RSCH Maternity Services either by referring you to your community midwife, if you live in the Guilford area, or by sending a letter of request to the Antenatal Clinic.
