Quality Account

The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust publishes annual Quality Accounts. 

We view excellent quality healthcare as something that is safe, effective and results in a positive experience for our patients and their carers. A level of quality that we would want for ourselves and our family and friends. To this end we have made excellent healthcare one of our key Trust objectives which we are obliged to report on into the public domain. Consequently for the third year running, I am delighted to present the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Quality Account; - a statutory report on the quality of our services and one which forms part of our annual accounts to our external auditors, Monitor.

As with previous years, the account presents some of the great achievements of our staff and volunteers in the last financial year, and I am very proud to list just a few of the highlights below. You will find these in the account alongside an impressive list of other achievements:

• Reduction in number of falls per 1000 bed days
• Below the expected rate of hospital acquired MRSA Bactereamia
• Below expected rate of Clostridium Difficile Infections
• High levels of harm free care (as measured by incidence of falls, pressure ulcers, medication errors,
• VTE risk assessment)
• Low mortality index
• Increased reporting of clinical incidents
• Improved participation in the National Audit Programme
• Highest consistent performers in the Enhancing Quality Programme
• Improved rate of response times to complaints
• Improved implementation of National guidance issued by NICE, Confidential Enquiries and Alerts

The account demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Trust to high quality, safe clinical and cost effective health care.
