Consultant Clinical Scientist (Audiology)
Email: d.prasher@nhs.net Professor Prasher has recently moved from University College London (UCL) Ear Institute where he was Head of the School of Audiology. He is the Chief Examiner for the Hearing Aid Council, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Noise and Health, on the Board of Trustees for the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS). He has been advisor to the European Commission and the World Health Organisation on matters of hearing and environmental noise issues. His interests are in special tests of hearing and balance.
Eve has many years of experience in the department. Her interests include paediatric and vestibular testing.
Karen Lammaing is the Deputy Head of Audiology and the clinical lead for Adult services in the Audiology Department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
She was born in Belgium and completed her MSc in Audiology at the University of Ghent (Belgium). She has worked in the UK since 2003 and has worked in several Audiology Departments across the country. She joined the Audiology Department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2010. She has a special interest in vestibular diagnostics and physiological measurements.
Hashir Aazh qualified as an audiologist in 2001 and has worked in a number of clinical and research posts since then. His clinical interests are in tinnitus and hyperacusis management as well as hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting. His research focuses on the assessment and treatment of hyperacusis and tinnitus in both normally hearing and hearing-impaired people. He has written over 15 scientific papers. In 2009 he was awarded the Joss Millar Shield from the British Society of Audiology.

Charlene has qualified in 1997 at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She has been working in the UK since 2001 and currently leads the Audiology Service at Frimley Park Hospital. Although her current practice encompasses mostly standard adult diagnostics and rehab, she has a special interest in Bone Anchored Hearing Aids and a keen interest in Paediatric Audiology.
Rachel Bowman began her Audiology career in 2004 after completing the Masters in Audiology at Southampton University. She followed this by completing her Certificate in Audiological Competence and achieving registration with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist in Audiology. Since then she has been able to specialise in her main interest of Paediatric Audiology. Over the last few years she has been involved in the service provision of objective and behavioural assessment as well as habilitation services within Paediatrics. Rachel has over 5 years experience working within NHS Paediatric Audiology both with her previous post as team leader for Behavioural Paediatric Assessment and her current role at the Royal Surrey Hospital as the Team Leader for Paediatrics.
Rebekah manages the service provision at Frimley Park Hospital, and Hospitals in Farnham and Fleet. She has a special interest in physiological measurements in children.
Nicola Topass qualified as an Audiologist in 2004 and has been working at the Royal Surrey County Hospital since 2006. She is currently completing the Doctor of Audiology program with Nova Southeastern University on a part-time basis. She has special interests in Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation, but also does work with hearing assessment in Special needs adults, other Physiological Measures, Baha assessments and fittings and adult hearing assessments and fittings. She has also started a Volunteer service in the Audiology Department and is its’ current co-ordinator.
Dr. Heather Gilpin
Heather graduated with a PhD in Neuroscience from University of Sheffield in 2007. She obtained her Masters in Audiology from the University of Manchester in 2008 and went on to complete her CAC training in Manchester as well. Her clinical interests include physiological measurements, neuroplasticity and paediatric audiology.
Ms Rachel Gynn
Rachel Gynn has been part of the audiology team since she started as a student in 2001, qualifying as an audiologist in 2004. Since she has qualified she has gained experience in a wide range of clinical areas. She covers clinics at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Frimley Park Hospital and Farnham Hospital. Her main areas of interest are Paediatric Audiology including new born screening and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (Baha).

Dr. Alexandra Lindsay
Alexandra completed her M.Sc. in Audiological Science in 2000 and later studied for a PhD. Her special interests are adult audiological diagnosis and rehabilitation and diagnosis of vestibular disorders. She also works as a research audiologist in the department and is currently investigating the effects of auditory rehabilitation on patients with dementia.
Ms Arooj Majeed
Arooj qualified as an audiologist in 2008 at UCL. Her current clinical responsibilities are within paediatric audiology, adult hearing assessment and rehabilitation where she has practiced tinnitus therapy in the past. She is also responsible for managing Audiology at Ashford Hospital.
Ms Carina Lauson
Carina began her career in Audiology after graduating from Southampton University with a degree in Audiology in 2007. She has attained professional registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists. Since graduating she has specialised in her main area of interest - Paediatric Audiology. During the last 4 years she has built up her skills in diagnostic testing and habilitation in children. Her current position at the Royal Surrey County Hospital is as a Senior Audiologist.

Dr. Sheetal Athalye
Sheetal recently obtained her Doctorate in Audiology in December 2010 from The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, at University of Southampton. She is currently involved in adult assessment and rehabilitation as well as audiological research within the department. Her interests include physiological tests, hearing aids, tinnitus and hearing therapy.
Mr Peter J Athawes
Peter James Athawes qualified as an audiologist in June 2009 from The University of Southampton. His clinical interests are hearing assessment, hearing aid fitting and tinnitus and hyperacusis therapy.
Ms Sophie Barrett
Sophie Barratt qualified as an Audiologist in July 2010, from Aston University. Her clinical interests are Paediatric audiology, Adult hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting.
Ms Clare Beak
Clare has an an interest in children’s hearing assessment and rehabilitation. She also visits the Fleet and Weybridge sites.
Ms Danielle Howard
Danielle Howard qualified as an audiologist in 2010 from The University of Manchester. Her clinical interests are hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting.
Ms. Farhait Kiani
Farhait Kiani qualified as an Audiologist in 2010 from University College London. Since graduating she has worked as a Paediatric audiologist and is now working in Adult audiology. She has experience doing research on tinnitus and cochlear damage and her clinical interests include tinnitus and hyperacusis management and therapy. She is a member of the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis therapy team at RSCH and is currently doing research on Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Mr Keith Knight
Keith has a special interest in hearing aid fitting. He spends some time each week in Cranleigh and Haslemere Hospitals.
Mr Jills Kurian
Jills Kurian started his carrier after completing his BSc in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology followed by a clinical year in 2007. He worked as a clinical audiologist for one year and then specialised in audiology by completing his Masters from the University of Manchester in 2009.
Ms Sally Lavender
Sally Lavender qualified as an audiologist in July 2010 from the University of Southampton. Her clinical interests are Paediatric audiology, hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting.
Ms Viveka Owen
Viveka qualified as an audiologist in 2009 from The University of Southampton and has since been working in adult rehabilitation for RSCH.
Ms Leah Wannell
Ms Sinead Collins
Sinead has been working in Audiology since December 2004. She qualified as an audiologist in October 2011 from the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Her clinical interests include adult hearing aid fittings and she hopes to pursue work in paediatric audiology in the future.
Ms Malika Hossenbux
Malika recently qualified as an audiologist in 2011 from the Anglia Ruskin University. Her clinical interests are adult hearing assessments and fittings of hearing aids.
Ms. Joanne Rhodes-Brown
Joanne Rhodes-Brown qualified as an audiologist in 2009 from The University of Southampton. Her clinical interests are adult hearing assessment and rehabilitation, balance assessment and vestibular rehabilitation.
Ms Helen Maiden
Helen qualified as an audiologist in 2010 from the University of Southampton. At the moment Helen is centring her attention on adult rehabilitation and increasing her practical experience in the field
Ms Neelam Pankhania
Neelam qualified as an audiologist in 2010 from The University of Manchester, with a BSc (hons) in Audiology. Neelam joined the team in January 2011. Her area of work so far is adult hearing aids and rehabilitation, but she also has clinical interests in Paediatrics and Tinnitus which she hopes to pursue in the future.
